There is a God, and He has spoken to us through His Word — the Bible. Here is a passage that shows us the purpose of at least one of the books of the Bible: “Now Jesus did many others signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:30-31). The Bible introduces us to Jesus who gives us access to God. God wants us to have life, and we receive the ultimate in life in the name of Jesus.
How can we be sure that Jesus is the way to God? The signs or miracles which He performed constitute one line of evidence. John recorded seven wonders by which Jesus left people in awe. Jesus instantly turned water into wine. Without ever seeing him, Jesus instantaneously healed the deathly-ill son of an official. Jesus instantly cured a lame man who had been that way for 38 years. Jesus fed a crowd of more than 5,000 with only a handful of food. Jesus walked upon the raging Sea of Galilee. Jesus gave sight to a grown man who was born blind. And Jesus raised a man from the dead, his good friend Lazarus who had been dead four days. All these things and more prove that Jesus is much more than a good man or teacher. Finally, after being crucified, Jesus Himself rose from the dead. Who else has such credentials?
May we help you to know the full meaning of believing in Jesus and the full joy of having life in His name?
