Are you one among the growing number of people who are intrigued by Jesus — or even feel some devotion to Him — but have no use for the church?
Please take a moment to read 2 Thessalonians 1:1-4, a passage that helps us to see what church is all about.
Church is about connecting with God. Nearly a quarter-million people lived in Thessalonica. Yet only a limited number of its citizens made up the church — people who were “in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” When God draws a person close and saves her soul, He simultaneously adds her to the church (Acts 2:38,41,47). The church is simply the Lord’s collection of people whom He has saved (Ephesians 5:23). No one outside the church has that saving connection.
Church is about growing faith. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ (Romans 10:17). Nowhere do we hear from the word and see faith in action like we do in the environment of the church. The church is a greenhouse for faith.
Church is about nurturing love. The love of God for the church and the love that spreads from person to person in the church are so different from what pathetically parades as love in the world (1 John 3:16).
Church is about developing endurance. Life is tough — the Bible doesn’t sugar coat it! How can we endure? In the church, we are constantly reminded that we have reason to keep going, and we have people who love us and make sure that we do.
Don’t try to go it alone. Let us help you to learn more about Christ and His church and then enjoy all that church is about. Please call, write, e-mail, visit our website, or come see us.
