Dogwoods are flush, oaks are going gold and brown, and maples have begun to blaze with orange and crimson. Don’t you love autumn? The Creator could have made the life cycle of the trees different, but the beautiful leaves herald His glory as the seasons change. His inspired Word boasts some beautiful “leaves”, too.
God, “did not leave Himself without witness, for He did good by giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness” (Acts 14:17).
Jesus illustrated the immeasurable love of God with a story of a shepherd who leaves 99 sheep in safety to search for one sheep until he finds it. Tenderly, he brings the sheep home and calls on his friends to rejoice with him. “Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance” (Luke 15:7).
Jesus highlighted the magnificence of God’s marriage plan when He said: “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate” (Matthew 19:4-6).
A lasting challenge and a wonderful assurance from God are found in Hebrews 13:4-5: “Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’”
Behold the beauty of the “leaves”!
